British Columbia remains one of North America’s leading film and television production centres, supported by world-class crews, established studio infrastructure, diverse filming locations, and a globally competitive visual effects and animation sector. In 2024, the province recorded approximately $3.56 billion in film and television production volume across 372 projects, demonstrating the scale of its production ecosystem. However, the industry continued to face challenges in 2025, with shifting studio investment, production schedules, and global competition affecting activity across the sector.

In 2025, British Columbia strengthened its competitive position by increasing the basic Film Incentive BC tax credit from 35% to 40% for eligible Canadian-content productions, and the Production Services Tax Credit from 28% to 36% for qualifying domestic and international productions. These incentives, alongside established infrastructure and specialized post-production capabilities, reinforce Vancouver’s position as Hollywood North. As the industry moves through 2026, B.C. continues to compete for major international productions while supporting its local creative workforce and production services sector.
